Five of the nation’s best comedians united at the Bangunan Peladang, Petaling Jaya recently for a witty and whimsical charity show.
Harith Iskander, Douglas Lim, Allan Perera, Kavin Jay and Rizal Van Geyzel came together for “Stand-Up for Education” to raise funds for needy and deserving young Malaysians in support of the Amma Foundation, the education arm of Amma (All Malaysia Malayalee Association).
The Foundation provides monetary assistance, scholarships, grants, community outreach as well as networking opportunities to young graduates.
The Foundation also funds the Right to Learn project for orphans and underprivileged students by providing them tuition classes and leadership programmes.
He also reminded youths to be well-rounded individuals.
Amma Youth chairman Dinesh Nair said they aim to make education accessible to deserving young Malaysians.
“The success of ‘Stand-Up for Education’, which was a sell-out event, is an indication that Malaysians value the significance of education.”
Corporate supporters of ‘Stand-Up for Education’ included dCrackhouse Comedy Club, 3 Monkeys Cafe Klang, Subang SkyPark Sdn. Bhd, UMW Holdings Bhd, CIMB Investment Bank Bhd, Shineversendai Engineering (M) Sdn Bhd, AFO Radio and Suresh Entertainment.
Miss World Malaysia 2010 Thanuja Ananthan was the ambassador for the event.
