Mr Quah is a veteran with more than 33 years of commercial experience in accounting, tax, corporate finance, companies law requirements.
He has held pivotal roles in various companies, showcasing a career dedicated to finance and strategy. He began at Perbadanan Nasional Berhad as an Accountant, managing group accounts and contributing to corporate exercises during the privatization period.
Transitioning to Pernas International Holdings Berhad and later Tradewinds Corporation Berhad, he climbed the ladder, overseeing finance departments, formulating accounting policies, and contributing significantly to strategic business plans. His responsibilities expanded to include liaising with bankers for financing, managing audits, and playing integral roles in major corporate exercises.
His expertise and leadership grew from Director of Finance to Senior Vice President at Tradewinds Corporation Berhad, leading large finance and accounts departments. His roles evolved to encompass not just financial oversight but also strategic planning, risk management, and active participation in high-level meetings and committees.
In his recent role at 27 Advisory Sdn Bhd as Head of Corporate Finance, he shifted towards consultancy, utilizing his extensive experience to provide services in financial analysis, debt refinancing, and corporate finance. Throughout his career, he consistently contributed to the financial health and strategic direction of the companies he’s been a part of, evolving from hands-on accounting roles to high-level strategic leadership positions.
Mr Quah led major projects in companies, ensuring smooth operations and financial success. His specialty lies in managing risks effectively and boosting financial performance by finding smart solutions.
When it comes to handling complex financial matters, Mr Quah has taken charge of significant changes in companies, revamped operations, and negotiated favorable deals with lenders. He also had for saving on taxes and maintaining strong financial health for companies is remarkable.
Some of his notable achievement along his career include:
- Successfully completed the privatisation of Perbadanan Nasional Berhad assets worth RM1.146 billion in 1996.
- Carried out tax planning on property development assets, resulting in potential tax savings of more than RM80 million, of which more than RM60 million has been realised.
- Applied for tax incentives for a hotel to claim reinvestment allowance.
- Registered a new hotel under the Ministry of Tourism to claim Assisted in financing new borrowings of the Group.
- Successfully reduced the group tax audit involving 3 companies from RM16 million to RM1.6 million settlement in 2017.
