Brett Smythe

Brett is a successful business executive with over 30 years of global experience, having held CEO, Managing Director, Chief Projects Officer (CPO) and Non-Executive Director (NED) positions with numerous complex and diversified owner, engineering and global tier-1 construction businesses within the “giga region-building”, built environment, transportation, civil & resource infrastructure, industrial and energy sectors.

A Chartered Civil Engineer (CPEng) by training, Brett is also a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia (FIEA), holding an Honors degree from The University of Newcastle, Australia.

Brett’s executive career has been focused on establishing and leading high-growth businesses across multiple geographies. He has a strong track record of forming and leading strategic relationships with owners, financiers, consultants, and contracting partners.

Brett’s key experience covers business planning and strategy, large and giga-project delivery, corporate governance, risk management, legal and commercial, design, modern methods of construction (MMC), OH&S, stakeholder/shareholder management and developing unique value propositions.

Additionally, he has a deep understanding of the full lifecycle of developments from initial business case, through concept, design, build, operate, and asset end-of-life. Expertise supporting Finance Advisory level raising of debt and equity during PPP / DBFO project initiation.

Since 2022, Brett has been actively providing advisory and independent non-executive director services within the built environment, infrastructure, industrial, energy and resource sectors.
