Description of Project
Client
The Client is a statutory body under the Ministry of Transport Malaysia, responsible for regulating and enhancing the competitiveness of ports in Johor.
Background
The Client has developed a eGateway digital system. This eGateway digital system is a port community system with the objective of facilitating trade at the port to be more efficient in supporting and coordinating logistics activities at the port. The digital system takes into account of the requirements of the FAL Convention International Maritime Organization (IMO), possesses Business-to-Government (B2G) and Business-to-Business (B2B) features. The eGateway enables all ship arrival and departure processes at the port to be handled digitally online.
Challenges & Expectations
This project is to determine whether the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) that will be created is able to manage and operate to provide services through the eGateway platform as per the agreement, and can generate revenue and income for the company and LPJ.
Our Role on the Project
Scope of Services
Understand the business flow of documentation in the eGateway system, where to take into account on the difference between Pasir Gudang Port & Tanjung Pelepas Port.
Obtaining an understanding of the workflow related to the approval of each Government Department that may affect the use & implementation of the eGateway system.
Solutions/Outcomes Delivered
- Develop a framework regarding the revenue and income that the eGateway system can generate.
- Identified and present the cost structure in managing, operating, operating & maintaining the eGateway system.
- Developed an analysis regarding the financial implications by comparing two (2) options, whether the eGateway system is managed and operated by a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), OR remains as it is, i.e. LPJ alone manages and operates the system.
- Conducted discussions with LPJ management to identify risks other than financial implications
