Client

The Client is a smart farm operator with a niche focus of organic farming coupled with proprietary digital technologies developed by their strategic technology partners. Their products ranging from organic vegetables to organic fisheries, organic poultry and eggs.

Background

To achieve the founder’s vision of bringing the quality organic farming products to end-users at affordable prices, the company is desirous to establish a larger farm of size 200 acre in the Northern region of Malaysia.

This new farm will equip with the latest technologies at much larger scale, to effectively increase their production capacity.

Challenges & Expectations

To better guide the business growth and acquire the necessary funding for the expansion, the Client has decided to develop a proper business plan with expansion plan and go-to-market strategy for fund raising purpose.

Our Role on the Project

Scope of Services

Our company was tasked to develop a 10 years business plan which include the following:

• Industry outlook and high-level demand assessment for agriculture products
• Conduct competitor analysis with other farming and smart farming operators
• Develop business strategies & go-to-market strategies for the smart farm
• Build financial model to ascertain funding needed
• Advise on shareholding structure and investment options available
• Assist in investment negotiation with potential investors

Solutions/Outcomes Delivered

• Produced an Investment Memorandum and assist in the presentation & negotiation with more than five potential investors
• Advised on the shareholding structure for different investment scenarios and make recommendations on optimal funding options to the company
• Developed a 10 years business plan with products focus, funding requirement, corporate & shareholding structure, as well as various sales & operating KPIs
