KUALA LUMPUR: Five members have been appointed to the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) Governance Oversight Committee.

The committee has been given the mandate to assist the HRDF board of directors and is tasked to look into issues raised by stakeholders.

The members are former international trade and industry ministry secretary-general Tan Sri Rebecca Fatima Sta Maria, litigator Fahri Azzat, debt recovery professional Fiona Soh, accountant S. Dhamodaran and veteran journalist R. Nadeswaran.

Human Resources Minister M. Kulasegaran (pic) said the committee is tasked with oversight responsibilities, which include reviewing all aspects of the board’s governance framework and ensuring it functions in an effective and efficient manner to support the operations of HRDF.

“We want to ensure that the modus operandi of HRDF is as transparent as possible so that contributors will have a good feeling that their money is well spent in the process and every cent has been accounted for.

“The committee will have a free say and they can engage from what is available from the company’s records, the people working here and even the public,” said Kulasegaran at a press conference here on Thursday.

He said the committee will be given about 100 days, in line with Pakatan Harapan’s manifesto, to come up with solutions.
