Description of Project
Client
The Client is a listed company and the plantation arm of Malaysia’s premier government-owned Islamic financial institution. The company manages a large portfolio of oil palm estates and mills across Malaysia and Indonesia, producing Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB), Crude Palm Oil (CPO), and Palm Kernel (PK).
Background
The engagement was undertaken to conduct a comprehensive operational, agronomic, and financial assessment to determine a defensible valuation of the assets for a potential sale, taking into account replanting requirements, yield potential, and evolving regulatory and market conditions.
Challenges & Expectations
The client faced planting risks arising from global certification requirements, alongside fragmented data, inconsistent field assumptions, and uncertainties in yield, pricing, and labour conditions. Ongoing developments relating to additional land titles (HGU) could materially affect valuation. The client expected a performance assessment that reflects the actual field conditions, addresses compliance risks, and outlines strategic pathways to maximise asset value.
